Angkor Wat is the most massive of all the temples and sometimes it symbolizes the whole complex, for example, these same towers grace the Cambodian flag.

Its concentric concept, with each level smaller, higher, and more dramatic than the previous, is a microcosmic model of the universe according to Hindu principles. The central towers correspond to the peaks of Mount Meru, home of the gods.
