The business end of the lighthouse. Inside is a 1st-order Fresnel lens consisting of over 1000 individual prisms. It was lit with a 5-wick mineral oil lamp, and the lens was rotated by a weight and pulley system similar to a grandfather clock, except it had to be cranked up every 2.5 hours.
